There’s an old saying: the definition of insanity is repeating the same behaviors and expecting different results. Or something to that effect, anyway.
I tend to think more that I repeat things over and over again expecting different results just because I’m an optimist rather than insane, but it has crossed my mind that perhaps optimism plus insanity is also a form of stupidity.
That said, I never have luck ordering clothing online. Just because it looks good in the photo is a great guarantee it isn’t going to look right on me. I can’t tell you how many clothing items I’ve purchased online that I’ve returned. In recent years, I’ve accepted this, and stopped ordering clothing items of any kind online.
But, hey, it was February and I was up in the wilds ofProvincetownall by myself and far away from any retail stores, so I decided I’d go ahead and order some clothes to wear during the wedding weekend from Target.
I should’ve known it was a stupid idea. The stuff came, I tried it on, and it looked…well, awful. Fortunately for me, Target’s policy is order online, and if you’re dissatisfied, you can take it back to your nearest retail store for full credit. Which I did. Easiest return ever. So I suppose if I decide to get stupid again, I should be mindful that the best place to do it is Target.
